Ways To Reward Yourself For Reaching Smart Goals

Most of us set goals every once in awhile and do our best to try to attain them. A great way to formulate goals is to use the S.M.A.R.T. acronym. SMART goals are goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely. If you stick to this method, you will have a better chance at actually accomplishing the goals that you set.

SMART goals make sense.

Plenty of people have goals and dreams in life but never seem to make any advancement toward them.  I’m sure you’ve come across someone who talks about the same goal over and over, yet fails to come through in accomplishing the goal.  Maybe he always talks about becoming a millionaire, but continues to spend all of his extra money on things he doesn’t need. Or maybe she talks about becoming a lawyer but never makes effort to go back to college.  This is why SMART goals make sense. If you formulate SMART goals and take action toward them, your chances are very high of attaining them.

Reward yourself for accomplishing SMART goals

It is a good idea when you formulate goals to have milestones in which you reward yourself for reaching a specific target.  For example, if your goal is a 4 year bachelor degree, you could set reward milestones after each year.  Or if you want to lose 30 pounds, you could reward yourself after each 10 pounds that you lose.

Rewarding yourself once you’ve hit a milestone or accomplished a goal will help you to stay motivated and feel wonderful. Here are some other ways you can reward yourself for accomplishing your SMART goals.

  • Take one full day just for yourself to do whatever your little heart desires.
  • Get a manicure and pedicure.
  • Go get a new hairdo, facial, and massage.
  • Go shopping at your favorite stores.
  • Go out to eat at your favorite restaurant.
  • Take a bubble bath.
  • If you have a house full of noise, book yourself a room at a quiet resort or bed and breakfast.
  • Buy a book or two that has been on your wish list.
  • Order in your favorite type of food.
  • Indulge in a weekend getaway to a refreshing destination.
  • Buy an outfit that makes you look and feel fabulous.
  • Go skydiving, whitewater rafting, or take a ride in a hot air balloon.
  • By a new purse, lingerie, or espresso machine.
  • Go to a movie.
  • Call your favorite friend and make a date to go out on the town.
  • Grab your mate and go to dinner and dance the night away.

Do not be afraid or feel guilty for rewarding yourself for accomplishing SMART goals. Life is about learning, growing, sometimes failing or falling down, getting back up, and progressing toward your goals.  Do take some time to think about ways to reward yourself along the way. You deserve it.

What SMART goals have you accomplished lately that you have not rewarded yourself for?

To your success,
